About the G308A000
The G308A000 is the first of the G308 terminals from Red Lion, the display on this model is TFT rather than VGA. The main difference between the G308A000 terminal and the G303 and G306A/M terminals produced by Red Lion is not only the screen size which is 8.4 inches but the amount of onboard user memory available. The onboard user memory available for this model is eight megabytes of non-volatile flash memory compared to the standard four on the models up to this point.
The power supply requirement needed to run this module without any difficulties is a direct current voltage of twenty-four with a rated power supply of twenty-four watts as well. Please note that it is likely that this unit may draw less than twenty-four watts depending upon the options chosen. It should also be noted that the power supply for the G308A000 model should be no more than six feet away to prevent the overuse of cabling between the operator interface and the power supply.
Two ports are available on this device, a Comms and PGM port, each port is described as an RS232 port. Only one can be used for programming but both of them can be used for communication with a PLC (programmed logic controller). These ports can also function as either a master or slave protocol with any chosen G308 configuration. All of the connection types can be found in a table on page four of the G308A-E Model G308A Product Manual.
The RS422/485 Comms ports can be used to connect the G308A000 to Allen Bradley DH485 communications but it should be noted that a standard DH485 cable should not be used to connect the port to any Allen Bradley equipment.
